Orthodontic Support
Accelerating Your Journey to a Straighter Smile
A beautiful, healthy smile depends on more than just straight teeth—it also requires a strong, functional foundation of gum and bone support. At The Periodontal Implant Institute, we work closely with your orthodontist to offer specialized periodontal procedures that can help accelerate treatment, address unique anatomic challenges, and ensure your results are stable for the long term.

Specialized Orthodontic Procedures
Occasionally, the gums or underlying bone can slow or prevent the desired movement of teeth. We provide a range of adjunctive procedures designed to support and complement your orthodontic treatment, helping you achieve efficient and lasting results.
Wilckodontics®
For patients seeking to complete their braces or Invisalign treatment more quickly, we offer Wilckodontics®—a form of accelerated orthodontics. This technique involves carefully modifying the bone around the teeth, allowing them to move into alignment both faster and safely, often reducing total treatment time.
Exposure of Impacted Teeth
Sometimes, a tooth (most commonly a canine) remains impacted beneath the gum and is unable to erupt naturally. We perform a minor surgical procedure to uncover the tooth and, in coordination with your orthodontist, attach a small bracket or device so it can be gradually guided into its correct position.
Frenectomy
A "frenum" is a small fold of tissue in the mouth. When it is unusually thick or attaches too close to the teeth, it can cause spacing between the front teeth or contribute to gum recession. We can perform a quick, minimally invasive laser frenectomy to help close gaps and protect gum health.
Corticotomy
Corticotomy is a procedure that involves making precise, small incisions in the bone to reduce its resistance and facilitate tooth movement. This is especially helpful for adult patients, whose bone density may slow traditional orthodontic progress, and can allow for more predictable and efficient outcomes.
Why Coordinate with a Periodontist?
Moving teeth with orthodontics places pressure on the gums and bone that support them. As specialists in gum and bone health, Dr. Waleed and Dr. Carpio oversee your treatment to ensure optimal periodontal health throughout orthodontic care and beyond.
Protecting Against Recession
We carefully monitor gum tissue thickness to prevent unwanted thinning or recession as teeth are moved into new positions.
Ensuring Stability
After your teeth are aligned, we assess the health of the bone and ligaments to help ensure your results are long-lasting and stable.
Collaborative Care
We coordinate closely with your orthodontist throughout your treatment to synchronize every aspect of your care plan, ensuring the best possible results.
