To Our New Patients
We thank you for visiting our website. Our mission is to provide you with excellence in periodontal and implant services, with the highest level of attention and personalized care in a warm and friendly environment. Our commitment to you is to provide high quality care that includes dental implants, as well as prevention, diagnosis and treatment of all aspects of periodontal (gum) disease, including periodontal cosmetic procedures. We use cutting edge technology including lasers. We make you comfortable without the need for sedation.
On your first appointment with us, you will receive a complete and comprehensive periodontal examination and oral cancer screening. All findings will be shared and thoroughly discussed with you. Create your new account on our patient portal here.
You don’t need a referral from a general dentist to see a periodontist. During your first visit, Dr. Carpio will review your complete medical and dental history. It is very important that you inform Dr. Carpio if you are taking any medications or being treated for any condition because it may affect your periodontal care. Your teeth will be checked to see if they are loose. Dr. Carpio will use a small measuring instrument (probe) and place it between your teeth and gums to determine the depth of spaces known as periodontal pockets. Your gums will also be examined to determine whether there is gum line recession. X-rays may also be taken to observe the health of the bone below your gums. If you have had recent dental x-rays taken, please make sure to bring them to your appointment so that Dr. Carpio can complete the assessment as soon as possible. We schedule our appointments carefully to prevent our patients from waiting, as well as to allow adequate time for scheduled treatment. In some instances, we will need to meet with our patients more than once. These additional visits will be scheduled to discuss in depth findings, diagnosis and proposed treatment, options, etc. Additional visits typically are done at no additional charge.
Referral for a Periodontal Problem:
Periodontal disease accounts for over 75% of all adult tooth loss in the United States. If you have been referred to our office because of a periodontal problem, it is likely that your periodontal infection has progressed beyond the mild stage. Please set up an appointment at your earliest convenience.
Referral for Dental Implants:
If you have been referred to our office for a dental implant evaluation, we will determine whether you have adequate bone for placement of the dental implant (s), and make appropriate recommendations on nutrition that will optimize the success of your treatment. Dr. Carpio has been working in the field of dental implants for over 15 years.
